QuadrajetParts.com will install a Heli-Coil Thread Insert on your Carburetor with 7/8"-20 (7/8" diameter and 20 threads per inch) fuel inlet and reface the carburetors inlet gasket surface to ensure a leak free repair. This will restore your stripped out inlet threads, allowing the use of your original inlet fitting. The absolute best solution to stripped or worn carburetor inlet threads.
7/8"-20 Inserts are installed on:
Rochester Quadrajet Carburetors, all 1965 thru 1971 automobile and truck Quadrajet carburetors, plus all year marine Quadrajet carburetors.
Rochester Four Jet (4G) Carburetors
Rochester Two Jet (2G) Carburetors
Rochester Model "B" Carburetors
We do not tap inlet threads by hand at QuadrajetParts.com. All fuel inlet Heli-Coil thread inserts are machined on our milling machine. QuadrajetParts.com has built dedicated Rochester mounting fixtures on our DRO milling machine to insure the installed inlet threads and sealing gasket surface is concentric. After installation, every thread insert repair is pressure checked to verify a leak free installation.
Normal turnaround time is 2-3 days.
If you require any packages to be insured for more than the invoiced charge amount, please contact us and request that additional insurance be purchased for your package.
1. Ensure that ALL gasoline is drained and evaporated from casting.
2. Send only the casting that includes inlet threads, do not send other components (for example airhorn and throttle body) depending on carburetor model. Remove all removeable components such as choke thermostat housing, jets, needle & seat, etc. Choke shaft/flap and 2G/4G power piston may remain.)
3. Wrap up your carburetor main body (Q-Jets) or bowl cover (4G, 2G & Model B) with lots of packing material to protect the fragile casting. Ship your Rochester Carburetor casting with a copy of your online order receipt to:
25 Four Corners Road
Blairstown, NJ 07825
Not all carburetor inlets can be repaired and we cannot guarantee a successful installation as some castings inlet threads are just too damaged to allow a successful repair.
Complete carburetors sent will be charged an additional $20.00 for disassembly. If you request the carburetor to be re-assembled, there will be an additional $30.00 charge. Note re-assembly does not mean rebuilding or adjusting float levels ect. Complete carburetors (due to the increased weight) will be charged an additional shipping surcharge to cover added shipping expense.
NOTE: All 7/8" inlet Rochester carburetors use a gasket on the outside of the threads (Directly below hex area on inlet fitting to make an effective seal) If your carburetor main body has had a hole drilled thru the fuel inlet threaded area, an additional repair ($47.50) will be required to seal the hole with an aluminum plug.
