How to adjust the Float level in a Rochester Quadrajet and Dualjet Carburetor

Remove airhorn casting from main body casting. Remove airhorn/bowl cover gasket. Note positioning of fuel needle clipped on float assembly, you will want to re-position the needle in the same location on the new float. Remove primary power piston assembly. Remove old float. Install float pivot attachment pin to new float and re-install fuel needle clip to float. Use 2 fingers to apply downward pressure to float attachment pin and needle. This will simulate the position of the float when fuel bowl is full of fuel. Check your factory manual for the correct float height for your application. Float height is the distance between the base casting’s (gasket surface) and the top edge (towards rear of car) of float. Adjust float level by removing float from carburetor and slightly bending the metal side arms of the float.
