Quadrajet Fuel Filter Replacement

To prevent possibility of fire, do not change fuel filter on a hot engine.

Place a shop rag under carburetor fuel filter inlet fitting to catch possible gasoline leakage. Place one wrench on fuel filter fitting and use a fuel line wrench on the fuel line fitting. Loosen fuel line fitting, while holding fuel filter inlet fitting stationary. After removing the fuel line fitting, loosen the fuel filter inlet fitting from the carburetor body casting. Note placement of fuel filter spring. Check threads and remove any loose debris. Remove old filter, install new filter with gasket side of filter facing forward. Install fuel filter spring into carburetor body casting and re-install the fuel filter inlet fitting, making sure that you don't cross thread the fitting. Tighten fitting and reinstall the fuel line fitting. Start engine and check for leaks.
