Servicing the tamper resistant choke cover
Removal:
Use an 11/64" (.172") drill to drill thru the three pop rivit heads. Drive remainder of rivit out thru the backside of choke housing.
Installation:
1. Tap threads first before installing choke cover. Start self-tapping screws in choke housing casting, Checking to be sure screws are aligned properly. Turn screws in and back out alternately as threads are cut. Then remove screws and blow out any chips from tapped holes.
2. Adjust inside choke coil lever, choke rod (fast idle cam) and vacuum breaks(s) to specifications before installing choke cover.
3. Install choke cover and coil assembly on housing. Depending on design, align notch in cover with retainer tab (2 O'clock position) or notch in cover with raised lug cast on housing cover flange.
4. Install retainers and self tapping screws. Tighten screws evenly and securely.
