#4802   -   Idle Pickup Tube Replacement

Remove idle pickup tubes:

Remove carburetor airhorn and airhorn gasket.

Idle tubes are located next to threaded mounting hole next to each primary throttle bore.  Idle tube is identified by a brass tube within a brass collar.

Use small hammer and drift with diameter of .085" or smaller to drive down inner tube (approx. .150" below surface), while outer collar remains stationary.

Thread small screw (small drywall screw is OK) into ID of outer collar, so the screw grabs into collar allowing you to use a pair of side cutters to grab and pry the collar straight up.

Use a thin piece of metal under side cutters to eliminate the chance of marring the carb surface.

Clean passages below idle pickup tubes thoughly and blow out with compressed air.

Install new idle pickup tubes:

Lightly Tap tubes in with plastic hammer until tube/collar assembly is flush with carburetors mainbody surface.
