On Rochester Two-Jet (2G) Carburetors

Remove Bowl cover assembly from carburetor.

Carefully remove three original stud holder mounting points by cutting with fine toothed hacksaw blade or coping saw.

File flat two main mounting points flush with existing flat surface on casting.

Locate new stud bracket in bowl cover.  Bracket fits inside air cleaner locating ring, positioned on flat area.  (same general location as original cast in braces)

Mark location of two mounting bracket holes on bowl cover.  Note: Two holes need to be drilled thru air cleaner locating ring, as close as possible to air cleaner gasket surface.

Use a center punch to carefully mark the two drilling points and drill with 5/32” drill.

Bracket retaining rod is made out of aluminum and is 5/32” in diameter.

Verify that retaining rod will fit thru both drilled holes.  (It’s better to have a tight fit of the rod in the drilled holes, than a too loose fit) 

Install bracket in bowl cover, place brass tube under and between two mounting points.  Slip in aluminum rod thru hole drilled in casting and thru bracket and brass tube.

Stake or peen end of aluminum rod to secure assembly in place.  Pin must be secure in bowl cover to retain assembly properly.

Clean bowl cover to remove any debris or metal filings.

Reinstall bowl cover on carburetor.

Install air cleaner assembly.

Start engine and check for fuel leaks.
