This gasket must be used in conjunction with:
#1720, Stainless steel metal shim (See gaskets below in the " We also recommend" section)

The combination of composition base gaskets and steel shim gasket are used on some models with exhaust gases running directly under the carburetor to avoid "burn thru". Stainless Steel heat shield goes directly under carburetor and above 'composition' base gasket.
